Yes, you read that right. German, Industrial metal band, Rammstein will be touring South Africa for the first time ever in February 2011.

According to promoters, Big Concerts, some bands entertain, Rammstein destroy! There are so few genuine rock monsters waiting to take up the mantle created by the likes of AC/DC, Iron Maiden, Kiss, Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin.

Well, look no more: enter Rammstein! With influences of industrial hard rock, heavy metal and electronic music diluted by punk rock, and gothic sounds, Rammstein have sold over 15 million records worldwide, including multiple Gold albums and DVD releases in South Africa.

Rammstein are one of the most successful German-language bands of all time. Bass guitarist Oliver Riedel once commented: “[the] German language suits heavy metal music. French might be the language of love, but German is the language of anger.”

Since their formation in 1994, Rammstein has had no changes in their band line-up. Featuring Till Lindemann on vocals, Richard Z. Kruspe and Paul Landers on guitars, Oliver Riedel on bass guitar, Christoph Schneider on drums and Christian Lorenz on keyboards.

Throughout their career Rammstein have performed at some of the world’s most prestigious festivals and arena venues including The Big Day Out, Rock Am Ring, and Sonicsphere Festival, and New York City’s Madison Square Gardens, which they recently sold out within 30 minutes of going on sale. Their first tour to South Africa is guaranteed to give meaning to the fans motto; “Other Bands Play. Rammstein Burns”.

Their six studio albums, Herzeleid (1995), Sehnsucht (1997), Mutter (2001), Reise, Reise (2004), Rosenrot (2005) and Liebe ist für alle da (2009) have placed them among the world’s finest metal acts. Including the famous Du Hast (which I am sure everyone knows about after that kid on Idols tore it to shreds), Reise, Reise and their most recent and somewhat controversial, Pussy, the band has never shied from making waves.

Their image, videos, lyrics and style – like any good metal band – have time and again earned Rammstein the coveted title of Devil Music. Bring on the noise!

Rammstein, who have achieved particular fame for their hugely over-the-top stage shows peppered with pyrotechnics and special effects, will be performing on 9 February at the Grand Arena, Grand West Cape Town and on the 11 February at the Coca-Cola Dome Johannesburg.
